Description
Here’s a shot from the western end of Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. These potholes are formed in the Presque Isle Riverbed by swirling eddies, pebbles and sand grains. Over the years, the scouring action of the sand wears away the soft Nonesuch Shale of the riverbed forming the smooth-edged potholes. I love the splashes of color that balance the corners and the unique look the water takes on as it flows through this area of the river. It took me over a half hour to get this shot. It was taken from a suspension bridge over the river that bounced and moved whenever someone crossed it. I had to wait for the perfect peaceful moment where there was no foot traffic on the bridge to get this 6 second exposure.
